Info-first guidance
About North Texas Sawmill
We help builders, woodworkers, and landowners make smart decisions about slabs, lumber, and drying. When a log is truly oversized, we can cut it with an Alaskan mill and schedule large kiln loads by appointment.
The mill team - On-site milling across East and North Texas.
- Wide log capacity up to 6 feet where access allows.

Why this site exists
Most slab and lumber mistakes happen before the first cut: wrong moisture, unclear grain goals, or poor storage. This site is built to help you avoid those issues with practical, local guidance and clear checklists.
What we do (and do not do)
We focus on oversized log slab cutting with an Alaskan mill (up to 6 feet wide) and large kiln loads. We do not handle standard mobile milling for small log stacks. If you need a portable bandmill, we can point you to local providers.
The Wood-Mizer Find a Local Sawyer directory is a great place to start for standard portable milling.
Kiln load policy
We run large kiln loads only (2000 bd/ft minimum). Wood must air-dry under cover for a few months before kiln scheduling. Wet wood ties up the kiln longer, raises energy use, and increases checking and internal stress, so it is accepted only at a premium when schedules allow.

For tree care and landowner guidance, the Texas A&M Forest Service is a trusted resource.
