Rough cut lumber basics
Rough cut lumber is full-dimension stock with visible saw texture. It is ideal for rustic projects or anyone with their own surfacing tools. The key is moisture management and consistent stacking.
Full-dimension stock with saw texture.
Air-dried wood performs better.
Ask about species and grain orientation.
Plan storage to prevent warp.
Buying tips for lumber
Check moisture content before final sizing.
Sight down boards for bow and twist.
Plan for shrinkage on thicker stock.
Ask about milling tolerances.
Kiln load policy
We run large kiln loads only (2000 bd/ft minimum). Lumber must air-dry under cover for a few months before kiln scheduling. Wet wood can be accepted at a premium due to longer cycle times and higher risk of checking.
