Alaskan mill up to 6-foot slabs
Portable sawmill for oversized logs
We only travel for oversized logs that need wide slab cuts. If you have a standard log stack, we can help you find a local portable bandmill.
Oversized log milling When portable milling makes sense
- Oversized logs that cannot be hauled easily.
- Live edge slab cuts up to 6 feet wide.
- Large projects that justify on-site setup.
- Call for quotes and scheduling.
Oversized log slab cutting only
Our portable setup is reserved for large diameter logs and specialty slabs. If your project needs a standard portable sawmill, a local bandmill is usually the better fit. The Wood-Mizer Find a Local Sawyer directory is a good place to start.
Prep tips for large log milling
Clear access for equipment and log handling.
Clean logs with no mud, rocks, or metal.
Plan for slab staging and stickered stacking.
Confirm desired thickness before the cut.
Kiln load policy
We run large kiln loads only and do not take wet wood. Air-dry your lumber for a few months under cover before the kiln so moisture drops evenly, reduces checking, and keeps schedules predictable. Wet wood can be accepted only with a premium.
Minimum 2000 bd/ft per load.
Air-dry under cover before kiln loading.
Call for scheduling and quotes.
Wet wood is premium priced when accepted.
